Under a beech

Let's have a walk

Nice colors on the road in the valley of the creek Le Sant between the village of La Rivière du Sant and the barrage of Le Pas du Sant.

During the last twenty years we enjoyed having a walk every Sunday in the Forêt de Soignes, a terrific beech forest arround Brussels.

Now we find the same wonderful autumn landscape on this small mountain road. Five kilometres of beauty!

I am Groot!

Your valley is East West oriented. So we have a South slope and a North slope.

In the North slope the most common trees are beeches and chestnut.

Last autumn, plenty of beechnuts felt, so many young trees are growing now. The two first leaves have butterfly wings shape.

If these trees survive several centuries, they will become like the Beech of St Jammes nearby in our Black Mountain too.

Like Groot, which means “big/tall” in Dutch.
